విజయనగరం జిల్లాలో కొండలు ఎక్కువ, మైదాన ప్రాంతాలు తక్కువ. ఆ జిల్లాలో కొన్ని చోట్ల అగ్ని పర్వతాలు కూడా ఉన్నాయి. భౌగోళిక పరిస్థితుల వల్ల అక్కడ వ్యవసాయం తక్కువగా ఉండడంతో ఆ జిల్లా వెనుకబడి ఉంది. మరి కృష్ణా నది ప్రవహించే నల్లగొండ, మహబూబ్ నగర్ జిల్లాలు కూడా వెనుకబడి ఉండడానికి కారణం పాలకుల నిర్లక్ష్యం కాదా?
